The Costa Cálida and the Costa Blanca South
The Costa Cálida (Spanish for warm coast) is one of the Spanish Costas in the Murcia region. This costa is located in the southeast of the Iberian Peninsula on the Mediterranean Sea and merges into the Costa Blanca in the north and the Costa de AlmerÃa in the south. The main city is the port city of Cartagena (about 25 minutes from San Pedro del Pinatar). Most of the Costa Cálida is very rugged and therefore not as overrun by tourism as the Costa Blanca. The most densely built-up area is around the Mar Menor, where Holiday Mar Menor rents out properties, but also around Cartagena.
The coast of Murcia has many facets for nature lovers. Many areas fall under nature protection.
The Costa Calida still has a typically 'Spanish' character in many areas.
The Costa Blanca South starts below the city of Alicante. The southern part of the Costa Blanca is flatter and has beautiful large sandy beaches.
The Costa Blanca South is known for its good golf courses, although in recent years Costa Calida has also started to become known for this.
